6.2 Oil and Water Levels
The hirer/driver is responsible to check and maintain all fluid levels and must immediately rectify and report to Spaceships any defect of which you become aware of however slight. Rectification means a fit and proper diagnosis and repair. Continued operation of the vehicle after a defect has occurred may lead to serious consequential damage to the engine for which you the renter will be held responsible and liable for full repair costs.
The risks of continued driving if your car begins to overheat or if it has a known cooling system problem of any kind can be severe. If your temperature gauge moves in a direction that is a departure from normal, stop immediately, investigate and call Spaceships. Do not wait for it to cool and drive again as you may cause further catastrophic damage to your engine, for which you will be held liable. Driving with an inoperative temperature gauge voids all insurance coverage and may result in the hirer being held liable if overheating occurs.
7.1 Credit card details must be provided to us by you at the commencement of the Rental Period for the purposes of freezing the Bond. Where a credit card is not available, a cash bond will be held by us for twenty one days following the end of the Rental Period. An administration fee of £20 applies for any cash bonds.
7.2 If paying by credit card, additional charges (comprising credit card surcharges) may apply as follows:
i. in respect of Visa and MasterCard, 1.5% of the total hire charge; and
ii. Diners and Amex cards are not accepted.
7.3 You authorise us to hold a bond in the amount of £500 (if you are 25 years or over) or £750 (if you are aged 21 to 24) on your credit card at the commencement of the Rental Period. You authorise us to use the Bond to cover insurance excess costs (and any incidental costs) as a result of any accident during the Rental Period. The bond amount will be deducted in full from your credit card (or retained from a cash deposit) if you are involved in an accident whilst using the Vehicle. The bond will be released when the Vehicle is returned provided no damage has occurred. The bond is applicable regardless of who is at fault and must be paid at the time the accident report is completed, not at the completion of the rental. The bond will be refunded to you if we are successful in recovering the costs of the damages from the third party. You acknowledge that you must pay for anything not covered by insurance or the Bond.
8. Insurance Options
8.1 For additional non-refundable fees, you may purchase from us a “Liability Reduction Option 1”, “Liability Reduction Option 2” and “All inclusive” insurance. This will reduce the Bond payable by you on a per incident basis unless the loss or damage is not fully covered by insurance. If an accident occurs before the expiry of the Rental Period you must pay additional fees for the remaining days of your hire if you still wish to obtain the benefit of “Liability Reduction Option 1”, “Liability Reduction Option 2” or “All inclusive” insurance for the remainder of the Rental Period. The “Liability Reduction Option 1”, “Liability Reduction Option 2” and “All inclusive” fees and the amount of reduction to the Bond are set out as follows:
Drivers Aged 25+
8.2 Windscreen Cover
An additional non-refundable premium of £2 per hire day will cover you for the loss or breakage of the front windscreen. This cover EXCLUDES the sunroof and all other glass windows and mirrors. A windscreen replacement costs £200 so we strongly recommend taking windscreen cover or the All Inclusive which includes windscreen cover. The maximum amount payable is £70 – i.e. 35 days rental.
8.3 Roof Pod bond
There is a separate bond of £500 which can not be reduced. None of the Liability reduction options including the ‘all inclusive’ include the roof top pod on the four berth.
The cover provided by each insurance option is set out below:
Spaceships recommends taking the ‘All Inclusive’ option to reduce your liability so you can travel with peace of mind.
8.4 You acknowledge that cover may be denied under Standard excess liability and “All Inclusive Option” insurance if:
(a) there is any water related damage such as vehicle submersion, creek or river crossing, beach driving or driving through low plain flooded areas;
(b) you breach the terms of this Agreement;
(c) you drive under the influence of alcohol or drugs;
(d) damage is caused by careless or wilful conduct;
(e) you drive on restricted, closed, dirt of unsealed roads;
(f) the articles damaged are appliances or fixtures inside the Vehicle unless in the case of a motor accident.
8.5 You are required to provide credit card details to Spaceships irrespective of the insurance option chosen.
9. Indemnity & Release
9.1 Except to the extent we or others are liable at law, you agree that you are liable and must indemnify us immediately for:
(a) the loss of, and all damage to, the Vehicle;
(b) the cost of towing, recovering and storing the Vehicle;
(c) for all damage to the property of any person:
i. which is caused or contributed by you; or
ii. which arises from the use of the Vehicle by you;
(d) appraisal or assessment fees;
(e) reasonable administrative fees and legal costs as a result of your breach of this Agreement or in respect of recovering costs payable by you (on a solicitor client basis).
9.2 You agree to use, operate and possess the Vehicle at your risk and you agree that we will have no responsibility or liability for any loss or damage or death except as required by law. To the full extent permitted by law you agree that you release and discharge us and our agents and employees from:
(a) all claims and demands on us; and
(b) any loss or damage whatsoever and whenever caused to you whether by way of death of, or injury to, any person of any nature or kind, accident or damage or loss of property, delay, financial loss (including accommodation or meal costs) or otherwise, arising directly or indirectly from or incidental to your use of the Vehicle or any accident to or involving the Vehicle or its use, operation, repair, maintenance or storage or which may otherwise be suffered or sustained in, upon or near the Vehicle provided that this release shall not extend to any claims arising from a negligent act or omission by us; and
(c) any loss or damage as a result of items being left in the Vehicle after its return to us or stolen from the Vehicle.
9.3 You acknowledge that you will not be refunded for hire fees in the event that non-mechanical malfunctions occur such as in respect of DVD/CD player, fridge, water pump or cookers amongst other things.
9.4 Any person claiming the return of personal property left in the Vehicle is required to furnish us with satisfactory proof of ownership.
9.5 You have rights conferred under consumer legislation and no provision in this Agreement is intended to exclude, restrict or modify any non-excludable terms implied by or rights which you may have under UK law.
10. Return of the Vehicle
10.1 You must return the Vehicle to us:
(a) between 09:00 hours and 16:00 hours to the place and on the date shown on the Rental Document;

10.5 If you return the Vehicle later than 16:00 hours you will he charged an additional day’s hire. Early returns do not entitle you to a refund.
10.6 If you do not return the Vehicle by the date shown on the Rental Document you must pay an additional day’s hire plus a penalty of £50 for each day the Vehicle is overdue.
10.7 We may request the immediate return of the Vehicle, or we may re-take possession of the Vehicle without notice, if we reasonably suspect that:
(a) you have breached a term or condition of this Agreement;
(b) damage to the Vehicle, or injury to persons or property is likely to occur; or
(c) the Vehicle may be or has been used for an unlawful purpose.
10.8 Rental extensions are possible subject to availability. Suitable notice must be given to Spaceships UK for any authorisation to any rental. There is no guarantee of any extension regardless of notice provided.
11. Acknowledgement & Warranties

You warrant that the information contained in the Rental Document is true and correct and that the credit card details provided (if any) are those of the Hirer named on the Rental Document (not the Additional Drivers).
11.2 You acknowledge that we give no express warranty in relation to the motor vehicle other than those conditions and warranties implied by statute, which cannot be excluded, restricted or modified, such as those under VOSA. Where we are permitted to limit liability under those statutes for breach of an implied condition or warranty you agree that our liability is limited to replacement, repair or re-supply of the Vehicle. The rates on this website are often heavily discounted. This is due to our negotiated rates and bulk buying power. On very rare occasions, a rate may be displayed incorrectly due to our, or a vehicle supplier's error. In such a case, if you book with us at a quoted rate that is incorrect, we will notify you of any price change and give you the option to proceed or cancel. We make every effort to keep information on our site up to date, but we cannot guarantee this website is free of errors or omissions and retain the right to update or change the information published at any time.
To the extent permitted by law we/the owners of this website will not be liable to you or to any third party (whether in contract, tort, or otherwise) for any direct, indirect or consequential loss or damage (including but not limited to any accident, injury, delay or loss of enjoyment) arising out of your reliance upon information contained on this website, including but not limited to your use (or inability to use) any products or services described or procured through this website.
When you pick up your vehicle, you will be required to sign a rental agreement with the supplier of the vehicle. Your rental and use of the vehicle will be governed by the terms of the rental agreement and any other documentation or information provided to you by the supplier at the time you pick up your vehicle. The rental agreement is between you and the supplier and we will not be liable to you or to any third party in relation to the terms of the supplier’s rental agreement or any other documentation provided to you by the supplier at the time of pick up.
While we will make reasonable efforts to ensure we are representing only reputable suppliers, we make no warranty about the fitness or suitability of any third party (supplier) product or service and will not accept responsibility for the quality or fitness of any vehicle. If you encounter issues with the vehicle whilst on hire, you MUST report these issues directly to the relevant supplier at the earliest possible time. This will allow the supplier to remedy any issues and minimise any inconvenience to you. If you fail to report any vehicle issues during your rental, it is likely that compensation will not be offered. We welcome feedback from our customers on their experience with our suppliers. We may, at our discretion, provide you with reasonable assistance in resolving any dispute you may have with a supplier.
Our total liability to you in relation to your use of this website and the information contained on this website will not exceed the dollar amount of the deposit we have received from you in relation to your booking/rental. Refunds will not be made for bookings cancelled due to inclement weather. Again, we strongly recommend that you take out travel insurance. Your use of this website is governed by the laws of New Zealand and the jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts.
To make a booking you must complete our booking form which is easy to follow and secured with the latest encryption technology. Once we receive your form, we will, subject to availability, confirm your booking by emailing you a confirmation voucher and invoice. The deposit required to secure your vehicle (as shown on the secure booking page) will only be processed on your credit card when your booking is confirmed. Please note that a 1.95% credit card or debit card surcharge will be added when your payment is processed.
A booking is confirmed when you have been emailed a confirmation voucher and at this stage the deposit is processed on your card and becomes non-refundable and any cancellation fees stated in the supplier's terms apply. Upon receipt of your confirmation, please check your details carefully and notify us immediately if there are any incorrect details, as it may not be possible to make changes at a later date.
If you are booking via phone, please make sure you have read the terms and conditions of the vehicle you wish to rent first. Our reservations consultant will ask you if you have read the terms and agree to them before proceeding. The onus is always on the renter to ensure they make themselves fully aware of the terms displayed on our website.
In booking on this website you acknowledge that we disclose your information to your selected Supplier in order to provide the requested rental services.
Please note that some suppliers treat an amendment as a new booking and apply the rate current at the time the amendment is made to recalculate the entire booking amount (not just the days changed). If the rental period is increased, an additional deposit may be required. If the rental period is shortened which results in a reduction of the rental charges, the deposit amount will remain unchanged, and the difference between the original and revised deposit is forfeited (it cannot be used towards remaining rental charges). To request a change to a confirmed booking, please use the alterations request link on your confirmation. Any alterations are subject to availability and the approval of the supplier. In addition to the alteration policy of the supplier stated in their terms, the following charges will apply:
Motorhome rental alterations (all charges stated in local currency): 25.00
The alteration fee will not be charged if your alteration request is not possible.
Vehicle Capacity and fitness to drive
Under no circumstances are you permitted to carry more passengers than the vehicle you rent is legally registered to carry, and if you do your insurance may be invalidated. The number of seatbelts (and passengers) is indicated next to each vehicle on this website. Luggage capacity where shown is an indication only and we will not be responsible should you be unable to fit your entire luggage into a vehicle. It is your responsibility to choose a journey that is within your capabilities. A vehicle supplier can refuse to rent a vehicle to any person who is in their opinion unfit to drive or does not meet eligibility requirements. In such circumstances we will have no further liability to you.
We are committed to providing a quality service and aim for complete customer satisfaction. In the event of cancellation, any refunds or penalties are detailed in the terms and conditions of your selected vehicle that you are asked to read and accept at time of booking. In the event you are unsatisfied with our service, please contact us within 48 hours of placing your booking or request and we will work to resolve any issues and determine if compensation is due. In the event you have completed your rental and are unhappy with your vehicle, we are happy to assist you in seeking compensation from the operator of the vehicle.
